Born in 1995, "Commitment" is the son of "Relaunch" out of "Escrow Agent" by "El Gran Senor". He was purchased from the Keenland yearling sale for $540,000. Half brother to "Skywalker" ($2,226,750) "Honor and Glory"($1,202,992) and "Cee's Tizzy"on his sires side and "Vicar "($835,142) on his dams side, Commitment was put in training with Dwayne Lucas where he showed great promise.
Never raced: Due to an illness prior to beginning training Commitment underwent sugery to remove scar tissue from his throat and maximise his breathing ability for racing. The incision was not closed properly and the wound became infected and did not heal in a timely manner. At the same time the owners were getting "Charismatic" ready for the "kentucky Derby". Wanting to focus on Charismatic and frustrated with the delay for Commitment they sold him at auction with the wound still unhealed.
Once recieved , the Januarys went to work on the wound in hopes of getting him ready to run again.By the time the problem was properly diagnosed and treatment began to be effective, it would still be months before he would be ready to run. With several mares allready waiting to breed to him the Januarys decided to put him to stud. His first foals were yearlings of 2002.
As of 2006 his prodgeny had earned $109,477 including "Get Around Sue" who earned $35,440.Though the earnings are not spectacular for the number of starters, being bred primarily to our own mares, many of which were here prior to obtaining Commitment, his get have done much better than the %s would lead one to think. When bred to the better mares and given the chance to run at tracks that allow for more distance than Los Alamitos (where our trainer has been located for the past 40 years), one can see statistics that better fit this extremely well bred stallion's ability and potential to throw champions.
